iOS Shortcuts

Swiftcam exposes app actions to Shortcuts, Siri, and personal automations. Launch Swiftcam at least once after installing or updating it so iOS can register the current actions and their available cameras, views, and connection sets.

Available actions

Action Parameter Behavior
Open Camera A saved camera Opens Swiftcam directly to the selected camera.
Open View A saved view Opens Swiftcam directly to the selected view.
Activate Connection Set A saved connection set Switches all server connections mapped by the set without opening Swiftcam.

Connection sets are managed under Settings → Server in Swiftcam and are available directly in Shortcuts when configuring the action.

Create a shortcut

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Create a shortcut and tap Add Action.
  3. Search for Swiftcam or the action name.
  4. Add the action and select its camera, view, or connection set.
  5. Save the shortcut.

The selected parameter is stored in the shortcut. If the referenced item is later deleted from Swiftcam, edit the shortcut and select another item.

Switch connection sets without Swiftcam location access

The Activate Connection Set action is an alternative to Swiftcam's built-in Wi-Fi monitoring. Shortcuts can own the Wi-Fi or location trigger while Swiftcam receives only the identifier of the connection set to activate. This does not grant Swiftcam access to the Wi-Fi name or device location.

  1. Create a Connection Set under Swiftcam → Settings → Server and map each server to the connection that should be active.
  2. In Shortcuts, open Automation and create a personal automation.
  3. Select a trigger such as Wi-Fi, Arrive, or Leave and configure it.
  4. Add Activate Connection Set and select the saved connection set during automation setup.
  5. Select Run Immediately if that option is available, then save the automation.

Create separate automations for each required transition—for example, activate Home when joining the home Wi-Fi network and activate Away when leaving home.

The connection-set action runs in the background and does not open Swiftcam. iOS controls personal-automation behavior and may display a Running your automation notification for Wi-Fi, location, Bluetooth, or other sensitive triggers. Swiftcam cannot disable that system notification.

Troubleshooting

  • If a Swiftcam action is missing, launch Swiftcam once and reopen Shortcuts.
  • Activate Connection Set requires at least one saved Connection Set before Shortcuts can offer choices.
  • A connection set must contain valid server mappings before it can be activated.
  • Personal automations are managed by iOS per device. Their trigger permissions and notifications are not controlled by Swiftcam.
