Apple Watch

Swiftcam includes a native Apple Watch app for viewing camera snapshots on your wrist.

Apple Watch view

The cameras shown on the watch are managed in its dedicated Apple Watch view. It is separate from your regular iPhone views, cannot be renamed or deleted, and does not affect their layouts or framing.

On your iPhone, open Settings → Apple Watch. This item is available when a watch is paired (including when the Swiftcam watch app has not yet been installed).

Choose and order cameras

  1. In Add Cameras, tap each camera to include it on the watch.
  2. Under Included Cameras, drag cameras to choose their page order.
  3. Swipe left on a camera to remove it from the watch.

Each included camera becomes a vertical page in the watch app. Changes are synced automatically. The Apple Watch view shows the connection and sync status; use the sync button (circular arrows, top right) to send the current configuration again when needed.

Note

In local-only demo mode, the watch displays all demo cameras. That list is read-only.

Configure a camera's watch display

In Included Cameras, tap a camera to open its Apple Watch-specific editor. The preview uses the paired watch's reported screen size when available, so it is the best place to check the result before syncing.

These settings belong to that camera in the Apple Watch view only; they do not change how the camera appears in other Swiftcam views.

  • Rotation — rotate the snapshot for cameras mounted sideways or upside down.
  • Mirror — flip the snapshot horizontally, vertically, or both.
  • Fit horizontally — fill the width of the watch display, preserving the configured aspect ratio. The image may extend beyond the top or bottom.
  • Fit vertically — fill the height of the watch display, preserving the configured aspect ratio. The image may extend beyond the sides.
  • Enabling both fit options fills the whole display and stretches the image to its bounds.
  • Aspect ratio override — enter a width and height to use a different media ratio. Leave both fields empty to use the received image dimensions. This option is unavailable when both fit options are enabled.
  • Zoom — set the initial 1×–4× framing when neither fit option is enabled. Pinch the preview to adjust zoom and drag it to place the focal point.
  • Restore defaults — reset the view-specific framing settings for that camera.

The editor also includes Automatic night mode. When enabled, set its start and end times to apply the watch's high-contrast night treatment on that schedule.

Apple Watch Ultra Action Button

You can configure the Action Button on Apple Watch Ultra to launch Swiftcam.

Note

The Action Button's Shortcut picker only lists saved shortcuts from your Shortcuts library — it does not list app-provided suggestions like "Open Swiftcam." You must first create a shortcut that opens the app.

1. Create an "Open Swiftcam" shortcut (on iPhone)

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap + to create a new shortcut.
  3. Add the Open App action.
  4. Tap App and choose Swiftcam.
  5. Name the shortcut Open Swiftcam and save.
  6. In the shortcut's details, enable Show on Apple Watch so it syncs to the watch.

2. Assign it to the Action Button (on the watch)

  1. On the Apple Watch Ultra, open Settings → Action Button.
  2. Set Action to Shortcut.
  3. Tap Shortcut and choose Open Swiftcam.
  4. Press the Action Button to launch the watch app.

Tip

The Open App action opens Swiftcam on whichever device runs the shortcut. Because the Action Button runs on the watch, it opens the watch app — not the iPhone app.
